This dress and pants set is crafted from luxuriously soft mulmul cotton hand block printed using the ancient Ajrakh style of printing.
The two-tiered dress is lined with mulmul and detailed with tie ups on either side. It has a boat neck and half sleeves. The dress is paired with matching mulmul straight fit pants featuring an elasticated waist and pockets on either side.
The dress has a relaxed fit and is 45-47" long.
The fabric used to craft this dress has been responsibly sourced from Gujarat, India. Ajrakh printing is a long process involving many stages of printing and washing the fabric over and over again with various natural dyes and mordants. Unlike other processes of printing on cloth, where the color is applied directly to the cloth, in Ajrakh block printing, the fabric is first printed with a resist paste and then dyed. The process is repeated again and again with different kinds of dyes, to eventually achieve the final pattern in the deep red and blue hues. This gradual process is also very time consuming, as the longer an artisan waits before beginning the next step, the more vivid the final print becomes.
Please note: The dress comes in the fabric as in the closeup in the last image.
Please note: The fabric used to create this dress is completely hand printed and some inconsistency in color and print may occur. We attribute this to the beauty of hand printing which lends to the exclusivity of the product.
